SAVOURY APPLE SNACKS

We love making delicious sweet pastries with apples, but apples are not to be sneezed at in savoury bakes either. Take these puff pastry snacks. Delicious with drinks.

  1. Cut the slices of frozen puff pastry into quarters (4 squares) and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Brush the edges of each square with olive oil.
  2. Slice the onions into rings and fry in olive oil until nicely browned and caramelised. Sprinkle the onions with salt and pepper, spoon them onto a plate and set aside.
  3. Peel the apple and cut it into 32 slices. Fry these slices in the same frying pan with some extra olive oil until golden brown.
  4. Now place a heap of onion, 2 slices of apple and a few pieces (or some grated) cheese on the centre of each square.
  5. Sprinkle with fresh thyme and bake the morsels for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
