We love making delicious sweet pastries with apples, but apples are not to be sneezed at in savoury bakes either. Take these puff pastry snacks. Delicious with drinks.

- Cut the slices of frozen puff pastry into quarters (4 squares) and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Brush the edges of each square with olive oil.
- Slice the onions into rings and fry in olive oil until nicely browned and caramelised. Sprinkle the onions with salt and pepper, spoon them onto a plate and set aside.
- Peel the apple and cut it into 32 slices. Fry these slices in the same frying pan with some extra olive oil until golden brown.
- Now place a heap of onion, 2 slices of apple and a few pieces (or some grated) cheese on the centre of each square.
- Sprinkle with fresh thyme and bake the morsels for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
