Joyce Bax (23) is a real jack-of-all-trades. She enthusiastically works in the shop in Bergeijk. She also packs buns and cakes at the bakery at lightning speed. Yet this girl has even more up her sleeve. On 15 May, she will compete at the BMX World Championships in Rockhill (NorthCarolina, USA). In the women's 17-24 category, she will compete for gold.
The cyclo-cross track in Luyksgestel is where she started her career. "Since I was five years old, I have been on bike cross. Besides my own training sessions, I also teach children at the club. Because of the preparations for the World Cup, I train almost every day now." Smiling: "And at Bakkerij van Heeswijk, of course, I also work on my fitness." On 7 May, she will leave for America with BMX friend Maud and her mother. "I find it very exciting, but I'm also really looking forward to it," she says.
